Problem:
This information applies to version 5.6 for Novell Netware.
These are the installation notes for InterBase version
5.6 for Novell Netware.
Solution:
InterBase for Novell Netware is installed from a client machine.
After installation of the software you will have to load the server
from the Netware console.
To install, follow these steps:
1. From the client machine, map a drive to the Netware
server's SYS volume. For example:
map f:=netware_server_namesys:
Note: It will prompt for your user name and password
if you are not already logged onto the Netware server.
Make sure that you are logging in as Supervisor. InterBase
5.6 can only install to the SYS volume with Supervisor
privileges.
2. Run the InterBase setup.exe program on the CD from
the client machine. When prompted pick the drive
that you mapped to the SYS volume in step 1 (above).
Follow the rest of instructions on the installation screens
to complete the installation.
3. After the software is installed on the machine, InterBase
licenses need to be added to enable the InterBase Server
to function. To license the InterBase, we provide an NLM
to be run on the server.
a) Load the license registration utility, IB_LICEN.NLM. You
can do that at the console with the command:
LOAD IB_LICEN
b) Once you are at the interactive prompt:
iblicen>
you can type help to get a listing of the available
commands. More detailed explanation of using
the license registration tool is documented in the
Operations Guide. Here is an example that shows
how to install a license then list the currently installed
licenses.
****
To add the certificates:
****
Iblicen> add -id IDNUMBER -key KEYSTRING
Note: the key is case-sensitive and should be typed in
exactly as it appears on the certificate.
****
To display a list of installed licenses:
****
Iblicen>display
4. After installing the licenses, you need to start the
InterBase server. From the Netware console enter
the command:
load iserver
InterBase Server is now up and running. If you want
the InterBase server to be loaded upon the boot of the
Netware server, you should put the load command
"load iserver" in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file.
InterBase requires CLIB and MATHLIB NLMs, which
Netware will load automatically. If TCP/IP is used as
the communication protocol, you should make sure
that the TCPIP NLM is loaded before loading of the
ISERVER NLM.
